Porchlight Counseling Services is a nonprofit organization that is focused on assisting college sexual assault survivors. We offer free, confidential, off-campus counseling to college students who have been assaulted. We also educate p ;eople on campuses and in the larger community about the issue of sexual assault.
We currently have positons open for a full-time Outreach Specialist and a Community Resource Specialist. These positions are part of the Americorps/VISTA program. These positions are available in the Spring/Summer 2008. These jobs will headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, but will involve community outreach to Chicago and all the suburbs.
The ideal candidate for these jobs will be organized, self-motivated, a good communicator, and committed to helping sexual assault survivors.

Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. (GCI), is a national firm specializing in building grassroots support for progressive causes, political candidates, public interest campaigns, and non-profit fundraising operations. We are currently hiring graduating seniors to staff Presidental Election campaigns to elect a Democratic President in '08. The positions we are hiring for will afford new staff the opportunity to impace the world aroud them by winning a monumental Presidential Election while learning invaluable skills. Our campaign staff is trained on all aspects of running a grassroots cmapaign - from recruiting, training, and managing staff/volunteers to overseeing the finances associated with running a local campaign office. Grassroots Campaigns' current and past clients include MoveOn.org, the Democratic National Committee, the ACLU, and the League of Conservation voters.
Postion: Citizen Outreach Director
Citizen Outreach Directors and Assistant Directors manage grassroots fundraising offices. They work with a team of other directors to recruit, train, and work with a staff of up to 100 paid canvassers to build support for the 2008 elections and wide range of nonprofit organizations.
Postion: Field Organizer
Field Organizers work in targeted Congressional districts and major metropolitan areas around the country. They will recruit, train, and work with volunteers to build the support needed to win on critical issues and get good candidated elected. In fall 2008 Field Organizers will help run oneof the largest get-out-the-vote drives in the country.

Qualifications:
Sound communication and motivational skills, work ethic, and desire for political change are essential. Previous field organizing or canvass management experience is a plus, but not an absolute pre-requisite, although prior leadership experience is critical.
Salary/Benefits:
Annual salary begins at $24,000 and increases commensurate with experience. Staff may opt into our health care plan.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Coordinator is responsible for the design and implementation of a comprehensive sexuality peer education program for 15-18 year old participants from the greater Champaign-Urbana community. As an employee who is representing management to staff and the public, it is important that the Coordinator demonstrate an ability to relate well to people and to work effectively as a team member.
Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in community health education, social work, a related field or equivalent experience
Experience:
Successful history of working with young adults. Professional background working with schools and organizations that are concerned with the needs and problems of young adults. Training and experience with sexuality peer educators is essential. Demonstrated excellence with both groups and individuals in educational encounters. Willingness and enthusiasm to promote comprehensive sexuality education.

What is GenderPAC's Mission?
GenderPAC is a human rights organization which works on ending gender based stereotyping and discriminiation. One of GenderPAC's core beliefs is that everyone should be able to succeed whether or not they meed the expectations of masculinity or feminity.
What are some of the major projects GenderPAC has undertaken?
GenderPAC is involved in numerous forms of actiona and advocacy. Among our largest projects is the annual GENIUS (Gender Equality National Index for Universities and Schools) as well as our Community Partners Program and our Safe Environment for Children Campaign.
What do interns at GenderPAC do?
Anything and everything! Interns at GenderPAC are given an amazing assortment of tasks from creating newsletters and movies to conducting studies. At times there are less creative jobs like stuffing envelopes, but these are far and few between. An intern even created this handout!
If I Intern at GenderPAC, what can I expect to learn?
Interns at GenderPAC develop many skills. Many intern assignments require a high degree of research and writing, so you will definitely improve those skills. GenderPAC also relies on team work, so you will enhance your ability to work in groups.
Sounds Great! Can I get academic credit for my internship?
Absolutely, although it's up to your school to approve. Many interns at GenderPAC choose to receive credit for their internship while others simply enjoy the valuable work experience.

Diversity Affairs Miami University is a state-assisted comprehensive university located in southwestern Ohio. Established in 1809, Miami began collegiate instruction in 1824; since that time, Miami has grown to an enrollment of more than 20,000 students on four campuses. The central campus is in Oxford, a small city located 35 miles north of Cincinnati and 45 miles southwest of Dayton. Regional campuses are located in two nearby cities, Hamilton and Middletown, and a European Center in Luxembourg. Miami University is seeking an Assistant Director of the Office of Diversity Affairs and Coordinator of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (GLBTQ) Services to serve as the primary person who will contribute to the overall goal of insuring that all students feel welcome at Miami University. They will also contribute to educate the community on GLBTQ issues. Miami Universitys Office of Diversity Affairs is responsible for the development and implementation of programs, activities, and procedures designed to enhance the academic success, retention, and personal development of multicultural students. COORDINATOR OF WOMEN’S STUDIES
The Women’s Studies Program at Eastern Illinois University seeks a 10- month, tenure-track appointment to serve as the full-time Coordinator who will contribute to teaching, advising, and the further development of a program nearing its twentieth anniversary. The appointment is half time administrative and half time teaching (tenure-track/tenured, open rank) and will be a joint appointment between Women’s Studies and the academic department corresponding with the successful candidate’s Ph.D. or other appropriate terminal degree. The candidate’s tenure will reside in that home department. This position begins August 15, 2008. The terminal degree is required by the start date. Candidates from any discipline may apply but must show an outstanding record of teaching with a preferred background in interdisciplinary teaching, a demonstrated commitment to Women’s Studies, and excellent administrative abilities. A graduate certificate or advanced degree in Women's/Gender Studies is a plus.
The Coordinator serves as undergraduate program coordinator and advisor to all Women’s Studies undergraduate minors, teaches a 2/2 load including Women's Studies general education and upper division courses each year, and other courses in the home department to meet program need. The Coordinator develops and coordinates internships and practica, contributes to programming and outreach, and oversees the campus Women’s Resource Center, including the hiring and supervision of support staff. The successful candidate will be expected to participate regularly in the Program’s intellectual life, and to maintain an active scholarly agenda relevant to her/his Women’s Studies teaching interests.

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS
Lawrence Fellows in the Liberal Arts and Sciences are postdoctoral positions for recent Ph.D.s who seek to develop a record of excellence in teaching and research in a liberal arts college setting. A detailed description of the program is available at www.lawrence.edu/dept/fellows. Lawrence Fellows appointments will be offered on a competitive basis for academic year 2008-09. Initial appointments are for 2 years, with a reduced teaching load (three courses in the first year and four in the second year) to provide time for continued scholarship or artistic achievement. Fellows also participate in a faculty development program that fosters excellence in teaching and scholarship. Lawrence encourages Fellows to engage in tutorials and research projects with undergraduates, as well as teaching and research collaborations with faculty. These full-time fellowships carry a stipend of $35,000 per year, plus benefits, and a $2500 annual fund to support research, travel, and other initiatives.
For 2008-09, the Department of Gender Studies seeks Fellows applicants in Gender Studies, Women’s Studies, Queer Studies, or Transgender Studies. We are seeking candidates with a background in feminist theory, as well as a degree or certificate in Women’s or Feminist Studies or a comparable area of study. Particularly encouraged are people with interests in Queer Studies or Transgender Studies. Applicants who might additionally contribute to one or more of Lawrence’s Interdisciplinary Areas (e.g., Ethnic Studies, Environmental Studies, Film Studies) ought to indicate this interest. Fellows would teach Introduction to Gender Studies, Introduction to Feminist Theory and Practice, and courses in their area of expertise.
